Progress of a new Oncology Unit at St James Hospital in Leeds is being helped by the use of ultra-compact Genie GR15 platforms from Nationwide Access.
Rotary (Yorkshire) is using a fleet of eight Genie platforms to install overhead cabling and ductwork for the new unit's complex m&e services. Main contractor Bovis recommended their use due to the work spaces available and a decision to avoid using stepladders.
These are complemented on the project by 12 small scissor lifts. In addition, Nationwide Access gave training to over 20 Rotary staff to help familiarise them with the equipment.
The Oncology Wing is due for completion in December 2007. It will then be Europe's largest cancer research hospital, with teaching and patient care facilities located in the new building.
