Shepherd Engineering Services (SES) has completed work on two high-tech operating theatres, a recovery room and a high dependency room at the Royal Berkshire & Battle Hospital in Reading.
The work was part of a £11.5 million joint venture between SES and MJ Gleeson. The 140-week programme involved carrying out extensive works while the surrounding areas of the hospital remained fully operational.

SES’s mechanical work comprised the installation of ventilation, heating, cooling, medical gases and domestic services. To enable future flexibility, SES recommended and installed Cuprofit.

Its electrical installations included a fire alarm system into the new areas, lighting and power, plus the marriage and extension to the hospital’s existing building management system.
