1 Phil Coutts

Phil Coutts is the new interiors director at Mace Plus, Mace's major projects subsidiary. He joins to strengthen the company's capability in the data centre and fit-out marketplace, having spent 17 years at Structuretone.

2 Steve Hawthorne

Also at Mace, Steve Hawthorne becomes divisional director responsible for Como Construction, Mace's special projects contracting subsidiary.

3 Matt Broomfield

Twigden Homes has appointed Matt Broomfield as managing director. Broomfield joins from Taylor Woodrow Developments, where he was regional managing director for the Anglia region.

4 Terry Fishlock

Bluestone has announced that Terry Fishlock has become managing surveyor. He joins from Salmon Associates where he worked as a private quantity surveyor and employer's agent.

5 David Watson

David Watson has been appointed as financial controller for Kier Residential, the housebuilding division of the Kier Group. He joins from Cintel International.

6 Brian Rice

The Gadd Group has announced the appointment of Brian Rice as group operations director.

He was previously the contracts director of the contracting division. Formerly he was construction director at Bluestone.

AMEC has appointed Steve Paxton as business stream director for transportation for its design and project services division.

TPS, the design and project management division of Carillion Business Services, has appointed Shaun Carter as managing director.

Lovell has appointed Iwan Williams as business development manager for London and the Home Counties.

Bob Martini has become area manager for the south west for Bluestone. He joins from Stradform South West where he was operations manager. Paul Webster has also joined Bluestone from Mowlem as contracts manager.

Obituaries

Mike Brain MCIOB died on 7 March, aged 61. Mike had been managing director of contractor Diamond Build for eight years following a career in the public sector and had been a member of the CIOB since 1972. Mike had fought a two-year battle with cancer but continued to work part-time until three weeks before his death.

Michael J Thurston MCIOB died in February from cancer at the age of 60. Mike was a respected estimator, having worked for several major contractors, including Mansell for whom he was working when he died.
