FULLY-INTEGRATED SECURITY systems specialist NT Security has installed swipe card readers and keypads to provide a bespoke access control solution for Gillingham Football Club as part of an extensive £12 million security and Health and Safety upgrade.
Priestfield Stadium, the club’s home ground, has been totally transformed over a two-year period with new stands added at both the Medway and Rainham Ends. There’s also a new Megastore, ticket office, main reception area and 20 corporate hospitality boxes.
With anything up to 120 staff and 11,000-plus fans in the ground on match days (including 1,300 supporters to be housed in the away fans’ enclosure) an efficient access solution was vital.
NT Security has therefore installed ACT 1010 readers and keypads that operate in conjunction with security releases from Adams Rite, hardwired and configured to read ISO Track 2 of magnetic stripe card media.
The system allows the club’s security and safety staff to programme individual cards that grant access to authorised areas, while restricting any areas as and where required. For instance, cards may be issued to visiting team players, enabling them to gain entry to certain facilities for the duration of their stay on the day/evening.
NT Security’s solution at Priestfield is PC-driven, and expandable up to a limit of 1,000 doors. Reader heads – both entry and exit – are said to be good for an estimated life of one million swipes.
