Supported housing providers fear that their projects will lose out in the race for funding under the regional housing board system.
The National Housing Federation is trying to get council and housing association representatives who work on Supporting People, the new funding system for the sector, onto the regional housing forums to fight their corner.

Mark Beard, Somerset council's lead officer for Supporting People, will sit on the South-west forum. Members of the regional board will meet with housing associations involved in Supporting People on 13 June.

Nick Sweet, Supporting People national co-ordinator at the NHF, said he wanted to see Supporting People representatives from councils and associations on every regional forum. "If we do not get this, how will there be a tie-in between Supporting People revenue funding, made by councils, and capital funding at a regional level?"

Meanwhile, the funding announcement for Supporting People schemes being built this financial year has been delayed until next week. A spokeswoman for the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister said the ODPM was trying to allocate Supporting People funds to schemes that already have funding from the Housing Corporation.
