Firm looking to take on Lagan staff
John Sisk & Son has said it will finish projects currently underway with its Lagan joint venture.
Lagan Construction Group, who Sisk has been working with to deliver a number of Highways England schemes, put four of its 30 companies into administration yesterday.
A Sisk statement said: “[We are] fully committed to completing all projects currently being progressed by the Sisk Lagan Joint Venture.â€
The pair were working on a £40m contract to upgrade the A19/A1058 Coast Road interchange in North Tyneside.
In November 2014, it also won a place on the Highways England’s Collaborative Delivery Framework for medium-value projects worth between £25m and £100m.
The entire five year deal, worth £5bn to improve England’s motorways and A roads, runs out in 2019 and Sisk said Lagan’s problems would not rule it out of bidding current and future jobs under the framework.
It added: “Given our scale and capabilities, Sisk is also fully committed to pursuing all existing and future tender opportunities on the Collaborative Delivery Framework.â€
The firm also said it was in talks with affected Lagan staff about the possible transfers including staff on the A19 job.
