20-year-old Elements (Europe) Limited specialised in room modules and bathroom pods
A Korean engineering company has taken over the running of a 21-storey office and hotel scheme in east London that was being built by collapsed firm Elements Europe.
More than 140 jobs went earlier this month after the Shropshire-based modular construction specialist sank into administration.
It was set up in 2005 and was based in Telford and specialised in off-site volumetric design and manufacturing of room modules and bathroom pods for residential developments, student accommodation and hotels.
Administrator Interpath said the firm had historically acted as a subcontractor but four years ago took on two construction projects as main contractors in Hackney, east London – called the East Road Project – and a project called Camp Hill in Birmingham.
In an update, Interpath said the Hackney scheme had been bought by GS E&C Corp.
Joint administrator Steve Absolom said: “A representative from the GS E&C Corp will be in touch with the subcontractors involved in due course with details of next steps.â€
Interpath said it was still exploring options about Elements’ other assets including the Birmingham scheme.
Interpath has previously said both the Hackney and Birmingham jobs were loss-making for Elements Europe.
In its last set of results, filed last October for the year to December 2023, Elements Europe saw turnover nearly double to £42m but pre-tax losses widened from £5.8m to £29m.
