Dancing, performances and prizes were all on the curriculum at an event for 80 children at Mary Bethune Summer School in Wolverhampton.

The programme, which Touchstone Housing Association helped to organise, was for children aged eight to 15.

They studied numeracy, literacy and black history in the mornings, and the afternoons were reserved for sports such as ice-skating and mountain biking.

The Harambee voluntary organisation also helped run the summer school.
