Among the grants awarded is a £2·15 million grant for Plymouth City Council for a community heating network serving the regenerated Devonport dockland site. This benefits over 1000 houses and is helping to take 600 homes out of fuel poverty.
Lord Whitty, minister for sustainable energy comments: "The key aims of the programme are to contribute towards the reduction in harmful greenhouse gases, by saving carbon emissions and creating a better environment for us all."
Schemes funded to date have already brought fuel bill savings of over £2.3 million and carbon savings of nearly 27 000 tonnes.
