Sheffield-based consultant Monaghans is expanding with a Scottish acquisition and three senior staff hires.
The firm bought Edinburgh QS practice Patterson Associates in January. The acquisition of the three-strong company marks Monaghans' first foothold in Scotland.
The firm is now mulling a similar move in south west England, Northern Ireland or the Republic of Ireland, said Simon Turner, regional director in the Sheffield office.
Monaghans, which offers both QSing and project management, has meanwhile beefed up its other regional offices, adding staff from big-name firms.
David Cadenhead, former partner with EC Harris, will lead the commercial and residential team in Monaghans's Sheffield HQ.
Peter Tollerfield, who has worked for both Bucknall Austin and Franklin + Andrews, will be regional director based in the firm's Manchester branch.
Michael Mailer, ex Mace, becomes regional director in the Kendal office.
Monaghans has 85 staff on its books and is recruiting further senior staff, Turner said. The firm's turnover is around £4.5m.
Director Peter Beard said the three senior appointments aimed to "strengthen our UK base and growth plans".
Current projects include the refurbishment of a raft of former Littlewoods stores for clothes shop Primark and a roll-out of new stores for Woolworths. Monaghans specialises in the leisure and retail sectors.
