The British Security Industry Association鈥檚 Security Systems Section has been bestowed with a Metropolitan Police Service Award for its contribution to reducing false intruder alarm activations in the Capital.

The Section won the award for a number of different initiatives it has developed as part of the industry鈥檚 fight to cut back on false alarms. These have included the creation of a BSIA Security Systems Strategy, the Section鈥檚 contribution to work on British and European Standards for intruder alarms and the partnership approach adopted with the Metropolitan Police Service.

Speaking about the award, the BSIA鈥檚 technical and membership services director Alex Carmichael told SMT: 鈥淭he Security Systems Section has consistently worked with police forces over a number of years to reduce the level of false intruder alarms across the country. This award from the Metropolitan Police Service is a great testament to the Section鈥檚 ongoing commitment over this issue.鈥�

Steve Kimber 鈥� vice-chairman of the Security Systems Section 鈥� added: 鈥淭he Section has long believed that it is only through partnership working with the police that false alarms might be successfully reduced.
