I just read your article on non-cognate degrees (‘Degrees of Separation’, CM, July/August). While in principle I have no objection, I think we ought to develop the people we currently have first. One of the first non-cognates to enrol on the new CITB/CIOB diploma tells his tale on page 45
I do think, though, that the CITB has a cheek, as it doesn’t appear to value the building degree or the membership of the CIOB. As a member I was told that my degree and my CIOB membership were not acceptable as accreditation for a CSCS black card.
