Pump manufacturers Wilo, Grundfos, Smedegaard and Circ Pumps have agreed a standardised energy labelling policy to indicate the energy consumption of their products.
The labels will take the form of the energy efficiency ranking system used for domestic white goods and will show a classification of between A and G – A uses the least energy and G the most.
“With the huge effort that has gone into bringing the new Part L of the Ðǿմ«Ã½ Regulations, everyone has become increasingly aware of the need to be energy efficient. About 15% of the the electrical power consumed by an average household is used to drive the circulation pump in a heating system. It is estimated that 17.6 million tonnes of CO2 emissions could be reduced by using energy saving pumps.
