The company has pursued a policy of partnering for some years and repeat business is in excess of 85%. With a turnover of £45 million, Kier ǿմý Services has 38 in-house designers offering value engineering expertise and communicating with other members of the team using Project-Net and 4-Projects.
The judges were impressed by the big improvement in turnover and profits last year, while reducing the accident frequency ratio. The ethical procurement process employed on the Oxfam Global Hub project also caught the judges’ eye.

Farebrother
Farebrother is focused on repeat work with its clients and constantly strives to improve its relationships. It is a member of the BSRIA Key Performance Indicator Club and is constantly monitoring its performance using KPIs, covering areas such as quality of installation, health and safety and calibre of site staff and performance. It is an Investor in People and has as exemplary health and safety record, recording an accident frequency rating of zero in 2005. The company had an excellent year in 2005, growing turnover by over 14% and achieving a significant rise in profits. Over this period, 55% of its UK business was repeat.
Grainger Electrical Services
Grainger Electrical Services aims to meet and exceed customers’ demands and requirements by offering the best in electrical installation with a “do it right, do it once” attitude. Established in 1987, the company has steadily grown to become a significant player in the electrical industry. Grainger operates a zero defects, zero snags policy on all sites. The last two years has seen substantial investments in the business to fuel growth and value to customers. It is also investing in the future, with several apprentices being employed with the firm. Repeat business is approximately 70%.
Powerminster
Customer satisfaction lies at the heart of Powerminster’s work and the company operates various systems for measuring it, including questionnaires and monthly review meetings. Powerminster has many partnering contracts in place and recently appointed a dedicated partnering manager to increase this side of the business. It is an Investor in People firm and is accredited to ISO 14001 and ISO 9001. Powerminster demonstrates a serious commitment to sustainable development in several ways, including the implementation of an environmental management plan. It is also meeting the expected requirements of the WEEE Directive ahead of its introduction.
