As part of the city鈥檚 build-up to become European Capital of Culture in 2008 the area surrounding the legendary Cavern Club is now bathed in light from 16 000 individual lamps. Inspiration for the design, carried out by Faber Maunsell, was the Beatles hit 鈥楲ucy in the sky with diamonds鈥�. Installation of 拢800 000 scheme was carried out by Hills Electrical and Mechanical.
