Kalwall, which provides daylighting with high insulation, has been specified for cladding and roofing in over 300 projects, including many educational establishments

Kalwall translucent cladding has been installed in the seminar rooms at John Dalton University in Manchester. Designed by architects Pickard Finlason Partnership, an unusual feature is the three metre narrow vision glass panels introduced to give a glimpse of the campus.

The cladding was specified because of its ability to distribute diffused daylight evenly, without shadows, glare and hotspots. This creates an interior flooded with natural daylight, which means less artificial lighting, and, because it is highly insulating, energy costs are reduced.

Unlike conventional glazing, it eliminates the need for curtains or blinds.

Like many other educational projects where Kalwall has been used, the interior ambience created has a calming yet stimulating effect on students.

Kalwall has been specified for cladding and roofing in over 300 projects, including many schools, sports halls and leisure buildings. A new Kalwall publication is available from Stoakes Systems Ltd.
