Interserve has purchased MacLellan Group for £116 million in a cash and shares deal. MacLellan provides hygiene, catering, security and estate maintenance for clients including Boots, BAE Systems, BP and Chelsea Football Club.

Interserve shares some clients with the newly acquired company, including BAE and the Department for Work and Pensions. However, while MacLellan provides soft services, Interserve is focused on providing hard facilities management solutions on a large scale.

The deal is Interserve's first under chief executive Andrew Ringrose, who began his tenure by restructuring the company. "The facilities management sector is very fragmented," said Ringrose, adding that the deal would enable Interserve to ‘stay at the top end of the league table'.
