As part of a major expansion into the access control field, Texas Instruments Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) Systems has just launched a range of 13.56 MHz RFID card and reader systems designed for access control and general security applications.
The vicinity cards and S-6400 readers use the latest ISO 15693 standard technology to bring many advanced features to the end user, including highly secure identification with a 2,000-bit re-programmable memory – all at a cost that compares favourably with standard proximity cards.
Further advantages are said to be greater data storage, memory areas that can be instantly re-programmed, longer read range and the ability to include many more advanced features such as encrypted ID codes and biometrics.
The cards and readers are suited to both stand-alone and multi-site applications where staff require access to several locations around the world with centralised administration and control.
Read ranges are up to 40% greater than with traditional proximity cards, allowing more people to be processed far more quickly and accurately.
