The Homelessness Directorate is to rebrand after it was made responsible for controversial supported housing funding scheme Supporting People.
The rebranding, details of which have yet to be decided, is designed to show that the directorate’s responsibilities now go beyond homelessness.

The ODPM’s Supporting People team will move to the directorate when a new head is appointed.

Supporting People’s current head, Bert Provan, is set to move to the ODPM social exclusion unit where he will head the division that handles short research projects.

The new head of Supporting People will work in tandem with Provan before he leaves to start his new post.

A spokeswoman for Supporting People said Provan had been planning the change of role for more than a year.
