Hill said: "It's a big problem and we are picking it up. We will be monitoring the situation but are very keen – particularly at a regional level – to resolve these matters."
The news comes as the government is rumoured to be stumping up an extra £400m for Supporting People.
The ODPM is expected to announce that the programme will get £1.8bn instead of £1.4bn for 2003/04. It is also set to announce next week the funding for the next two years.
Frank Vickery, assistant chief executive at East Thames Housing Group, welcomed Hill's intervention but said it would not end the funding crisis faced by a foyer the group plans to build.
The £11m foyer in Barking was promised local authority social housing grant but the group fears that this will end before its Supporting People money is confirmed.
