Plans to set up a UK Green Ðǿմ«Ã½ Council have moved a step closer following a feasibility study carried out by Cranfield University.
The report looked into the models used by the seven Green Ðǿմ«Ã½ Councils throughout the world and identified the key potential stakeholders, as well as possible barriers to the establishment of a UK-GBC.
Key findings of the report included the need for the council to act as a vehicle to bring together the many existing organisations in the green building sector, to be independent from any other organisation, have an all-encompassing membership and avoid becoming another talking shop.
Cranfield has also put together a business plan and launch plan. The next step is to establish a pre-launch steering group and appoint a chairman. Anyone wanting to join the steering group should contact Jules Saunderson at Cranfield University: email j.saunderson@cranfield.ac.uk.
