European greenhouse gas emissions (GHG) were down for the third consecutive year in 2007, according to a European Environment Agency report
The EU-27 countries’ overall domestic emissions were 9.3% below 1993 levels. This equates to a 1.2% drop or 59 million tonnes of C02 compared with 2006. Professor Jacqueline McGlade, EEA executive director, said member states had to take positive steps to continue the trend in the run-up to the Copenhagen Climate Change conference in December.
