Nearly one year after his appointment, Kevin Hill, John Fredericks' Managing Director, gives his views on the industry and his company's mission
The market is still soft and 2006 is likely to be another tough year. Energy and raw material costs continue to rise and consumers are still nervous about spending. It's unlikely that there will be an immediate recovery which will have an ongoing affect on margins. With only 20 per cent of the replaceable market left to be replaced, the domestic market will continue to represent challenges so it's really important to place emphasis on quality and service.
We've been working hard to develop a strong, secure business that will succeed in all market conditions. By emphasising our core strengths of quality, service, technical excellence and flexibility, supported by an extensive and unique product range, we believe that we have the strategy to exceed customer expectations and increase our strong position in the market.
We've also launched WHS Halo's new Rustique 2 profile, which is a fine quality product that's really easy to install. We're confident that this fully sculptured product will be very successful in the market.
The Rustique 2 system is the result of years of continued research and development and an investment in excess of £1 million. It's a quality product that installers and end users can trust in and it will help to raise the bar in an industry that has been plagued by poor quality for too long.
The profile is simple to glaze and fit thanks to a newly introduced single leg glazing bead so it will bring many advantages to installers who want products that offer superb performance yet make installation as quick and easy as possible.
Maintaining its distinctive profile shape throughout the entire range, Rustique 2 also benefits from a five chamber profile design to provide exceptional strength and durability as well as enhanced thermal and noise insulation. The increased thermal performance reduces ‘cold bridging' and pre-empts changes to the Ðǿմ«Ã½ Regulations which will require greater thermal efficiency.
Rustique 2 features gaskets which are co-extruded to profiles and beads during manufacture. This means that there's no need for the installer to roll in the gasket after the window has been fabricated which saves on installation time. It eliminates corner gaps and, because there is no need for lubricants, it makes fabrication and fitting much quicker and easier.
Lead-free formula
Rustique 2 is one of the new generation of PVC-U profiles that uses calcium organic stabilisers. These provide a more sustainable formulation, which helps us to preserve our resources and minimise the environmental impact of the system.
Rustique 2 will be available in white, woodgrain and woodgrain on white, and is capable of accepting 28mm and 32mm glazing options. The new system will also benefit from the latest high security hardware options.
Our mission is to make life as simple as possible for the customer. That's why we offer them a very appealing mix of area exclusivity coupled with a fine quality product that's ready to install. We also strongly believe that we should be easy and efficient to deal with, from buying right through to technical support. It's paid off and many of our customers have been loyal to John Fredericks Plastics for many years.
