Having picked up several category awards in the 2005 and 2006 Glassex Conservatory Design Awards, Leeds based, family-run Franklin Windows were awarded the title of Supreme Winner for 2006 at a special ceremony that took place on the CDC Winners' Pavilion at Glassex.
Having picked up the Gold Award in the Large Conventional Category - other categories included Small Conventional, Innovative Design and Large Span (portal) - the installation was believed by the judges to ‘epitomise and embrace the aims of the competition by demonstrating attention to detail and design flair that is truly exceptional.'
In addition to the accolade of Supreme Winner, Franklin receives a prize of £5,000-worth of state of the art specialist conservatory IT equipment from sponsor Ultraframe.
The quality of the design and build particularly impressed judge Barry Dunlop of consumer advice web site ConservatoriesOnline.com, who said: ‘This is an outstanding conservatory that is a true luxury room. The care and attention to detail is evident everywhere.'
Andrew Thomson, Design and Development Director at Ultraframe concurred: ‘It is very encouraging to see conservatory design, build and installation executed so thoroughly. The standard of entries was exceptional overall this year but Franklin has displayed a level of skill, thought and care in this installation that raises the bar for everyone involved in the industry.'
