Major window fabricator Corby Windows Limited has appointed administrators Baker Tilly.

Founder Philip de Clermont and co-director Jason Wilder were bought out 20 months ago by Dennis Marrison and Ralph Brindell, whose background is in paintbrush manufacturing. Although Jason Wilder has continued to work for Corby, it is understood that unpopular changes have been made, and the debtors list has grown.

Wolfgang Gorner, head of the UK window division of Rehau, one of Corby’s suppliers said: ‘Corby has been a very strong brand in the marketplace and it’s a shame that this has happened.’

Graham Bushby, Partner at Baker Tilly said: ‘The problems facing the sector Corby operate in have been well documented. Corby has unfortunately been no exception and trading conditions have been very difficult. The company has seen significant losses and cannot continue trading in its present structure.

‘While Baker Tilly is looking to attract a buyer for the existing production facilities, regrettably, a large number of redundancies among the 250-strong workforce is unavoidable. We can’t, at this point, say exactly how many.’
