I must take issue with Chris Blyth’s response to Allan Goudie’s letter in the November/December issue. Surely before blame can be apportioned facts need to be established? No facts were presented to us as to how funds available were sufficient to cater for the clients requirements.

The builder is one of the team of players with whom the client, architect, surveyor, consultant etc, all have a role to play and their performance of this role has an impact on the final outcome of the project. Blythe’s cursory response to Goudie’s valid comments cannot be justified without appraising us of the role of the other players involved and the final outcome of the contract.

Come on Chris, let’s have some facts before you certify blame - you may be right and have found the answer as to who is to blame for the faults that exist in the industry. Or perhaps a career in politics may suffice.
