Manufacturer puts cost per tonne up by £40
Steel manufactuer Corus has announced a £40 per tonne increase in basic price from the end of the month, due to increased demand and soaring energy costs. The firm said demand was particularly high in the Middle East and North America. The increases will be effective from 30 April.
The firm's general manager for sales and marketing, sections, Jonathan Sochart, said: "The healthy demand along with continued pressure on raw materials and energy costs means we are having to increase our prices for structural sections into the UK market."
