After 15 years of growth, figures from the Ðǿմ«Ã½ Controls Industry Association show that compared to 2004, control and BMS industry revenues fell in 2005 by 6.3%. The BCIA blames this on a fall in value of construction work.

  • In 2005, the total value of products, installed systems and service and maintenance supplied by controls and BMS companies to the UK market was £449m.
  • Overall sales value of product supplied to market decreased by 6.2% to £84.2m
  • Product sales to original equipment manufactures decreased by 2.1% to £9.3m
  • Product sales to systems installers fell by 15.4% to £39.4m
  • Product sales to distributors increased by 20.7% to £14.2m
  • Value of products installed by manufacturers or supplied direct to installers fell by 13.7% to £243.7m. Manufacturers' share of this market rose to 42.8%; system specialists' share fell to 57.2%
  • Value added to engineer, install and commission systems dropped by 10.2% to £219m
  • Service and maintenance revenues remained steady at £146m.
