The current drive for "affordable housing" is undoubtedly a gallant attempt to allow lower income households to invest in their own property.
However, as a young construction professional, living in the Ribble Valley and looking to buy my first property, I find it astounding that in my area, there is a planning freeze on all property construction, other than "affordable" homes. With such a situation, is it not surprising that housebuilders are reluctant to build new homes?

Planning regulations should allow for "more houses", not just those which are "affordable". Ðǿմ«Ã½ any properties means reducing the strain on the existing housing market – and therefore easing the upward pressure on house prices.
