Although I was pleased to read your article "Physically challenged" (14 February, pages 44-46) and agreed with most of its content, I was disappointed with the glaring error in your last paragraph.
There is no single deadline for the Disability Discrimination Act – it has been implemented in stages, two of which are already law. I assume you are referring to the October 2004 date that relates to the removal of physical barriers. The wording in the act actually says barriers must be removed from that date, not by or on that date.

This is a very important point and clients who are advised of a deadline are likely to make rushed and unwise decisions. The tone of your piece warned against getting poor advice – if any consultant tells you there is a deadline, don't take their advice at any price.
