I was furious to learn that ‘professionals’ with no building knowledge are to be given CIOB membership (‘Degrees of Separation’, CM, July/August). This shows how low the CIOB will stoop to increase its numbers.

The CIOB is guilty of institutionalised prostitution. Its main role now appears to be professional posturing, which, if allowed to continue, will make it resemble those ‘tacky’ trade organisations where you can get instant ‘respectability’ for a price.
