A new advisory committee on carbon abatement technologies has been announced by secretary of state for energy Lord Truscott.

The committee provides a forum for discussion between industry, academia and government on the development of these technologies which enable fossil fuels such as coal to be used with fewer environmental disadvantages.

Lord Truscott said: “The advice and insight the committee can bring in shaping policy and strategy for deploying carbon abatement technologies will be invaluable.â€
