Choices can be exceedingly difficult when deciding upon cutting tables. For example, a low cost cutting table may result in serious bottlenecks in the production flow; or alternatively a high-end automatic cutting table could threaten to increase the product costs if production figures are not achieved.
It is for exactly this reason that Bystronic Glass has developed its new smart'lamicut.
Flexibility
This is a semi-automatic cutting table, capable of adjusting itself to ever-changing demand patterns and to the requirements of an ever-more discerning customer.
Walter Blümlein, Head of Technical Design at Bystronic's Armatec Technology Centre comments: ‘The Bystronic smart'lamicut had to meet three requirements: easy handling, a high degree of automation and a high level of cutting consistency. These were the three adjustment screws that we had at our disposal - whilst still maintaining a constant view of the economic aspects. After all, our laminating glass cutting table was intended as an affordable entry-model solution'.
Market reaction
The positive, subsequent reactions from the market have demonstrated that Bystronic glass has correctly identified the needs of its customers.
The key component of the smart'lamicut is the sensor-controlled cutting head which scans the workpiece while scoring and collects all relevant information for optimizing the downstream functions.
This prevents the clamps from damaging the fragile edges of the glass. The clamps are padded with a highly absorbing liner and are thus suitable for processing coated glass.
Substantial time savings are apparent in nearly all areas of the machine's design and this can be optimized for all cutting tasks.
Training centre opened
Bystronic-Lenhardt Technology Division has officially opened a new Training Centre in the southern German town of Neuhausen-Hamberg.
One of the key attractions of the Centre is an insulating glass line reserved exclusively for training purposes.
