House buyers rate security measures and an adequate number of electrical sockets as more important than floor coverings and soft furnishings. This fact was revealed in an NOP survey of over 1000 potential house buyers.
The research, commissioned by Novar, whose brands include MK Electric and ADE Security, showed that 86% of those looking to buy a home considered a burglar alarm system as an important factor in their decision, while 69% wanted more electrical sockets. The type of floor covering and soft furnishings rated at 60% and 39% respectively.

In response to these findings Novar has assembled a dedicated housing team to assist developers and housing associations in their choice and management of quality branded electrical, security, data and fire detection products suitable for the home.

John Forsyth, of Novar, said: "We've been tracking customers' attitudes towards electrical and security needs in the home for a number of years. We believe this survey shows that electrical and security issues are up there with the traditional deal clinchers such as kitchens and bathrooms."
