One of the most talked-about CCTV SCHEMES IN the UK is the new London Congestion Charging system recently unveiled by Mayor Ken Livingstone. And one of the companies playing a major role in that scheme is Bosch Security Systems, whose CCTV cameras were specified for this difficult and demanding application.
Over 350 Bosch LTC 0600 and 0500 Series cameras have been installed to capture the images and number plates of all vehicles entering the Charging Zone. The units can cope with difficult conditions, including fast-moving vehicles (at up to 60 mph) in all types of weather scenarios – ranging from bright sunlight to dark winter nights – with high reliability.
The 0500 cameras are monochrome models with a high light sensitivity of 0.015 lux (with full video) and 570 TV lines resolution (as well as an infrared capability which enables them to identify number plates even under the most difficult and 'dirty' conditions).
Meantime, the 0600 models are high performance colour cameras with exceptional low light capability down to 1.5 lux (with full video) and 480 TV lines for high image quality, enabling vehicle identification.
Both types of camera offer a host of automatic features to help maintain high picture quality right down to the lowest light levels, and may be set and configured for optimum performance from a remote PC. Different settings for different ambient conditions may be stored in the cameras' non-volatile memories, and can be instantly recalled by the operator when the time comes to adapt to changing environments.
