Birmingham city council has published a new investment prospectus for Digbeth, setting out proposals for 6,652 homes and 310,527 sqm of commercial space across 10 sites.

The council is seeking development partners, investors and occupiers for the sites, which are in various stages of planning and delivery. Several plots have outline or full planning permission. Most are located near key infrastructure including the planned HS2 Curzon Street station and the Eastside Metro extension.

鈥淒igbeth is a diverse, creative, enterprising community, home to freelancers, makers, agencies, startups and cultural venues,鈥 said Sharon Thompson, deputy leader and cabinet member for economy and skills.

The 35 plots are grouped into 10 main development areas. These include Typhoo Wharf, where the BBC is relocating to the former Tea Factory, and Fazeley Street, intended as a media and studio cluster. The Digbeth Estate (also known as The Oval), spans nearly 19 hectares and includes existing sites such as the Custard Factory and The Bond. It has permission for 581 homes and around 147,000 sqm of commercial space.

Other sites highlighted include Upper Trinity Street, with proposals for 945 homes and a new park, and New Bond Street, which has outline consent for up to 762 dwellings.

The council is not a major landowner in Digbeth but plays a coordinating role through planning frameworks and partnership initiatives.
