BEXLEY BONANZA: Bexley council in south-east London has won £10m gap funding as part of the government's £330m investment in the Thames Gateway.
The project aims to regenerate the iconic Tavy Bridge estate in Thamesmead, which is owned by Gallions Housing Association. Originally built as the 1960s' answer to an affordable housing crisis, the estate fell into neglect and notoriety in the 1970s.
The regeneration project includes a market square with retail units and a health centre.
Bexley council has also won £2.7m for the Starter Home Initiative and £1m in unspent Housing Corporation funding for an existing mixed-tenure project.
