ASI/CIOB dual members paid twice for the same subscription period when the ASI was absorbed by the CIOB. We agreed to pay for 12 months membership of the ASI, but only received nine months. We also failed to receive any benefit from CIOB as a result of the merger.
When I receive a reduced service; I expect to pay a reduced amount. The institute seems unwilling or unable to comprehend the concept of 'pro rata'. I have repeatedly asked both the ASI and the CIOB this simple question: "Where exactly was it written in the rules of the ASI or the merger document, that subscriptions were due for a period of time the ASI did not exist?".
Our chief executive seems unable to answer this. I note, however, that he does claim the CIOB's reserves have increased by £500,000. £45 of that is mine!
