Jorgen Philip-Sorensen is to serve as non-executive chairman of Group 4 Security, the new company formed by the merger of major security contractors Group 4 Falck and Securicor Security. Jorgen will oversee the integration of the two businesses until he retires in September next year. Lars Norby Johansen (pictured), the current chief executive of Group 4 Falck, will be appointed chief executive of Group 4 Security, with Securicor chief executive Nick Buckles (pictured left) succeeding Lars "at the appropriate time". Trevor Dighton is to be appointed chief financial officer of the company.

Reliance Security Services has a new managing director. Nigel Forbes was previously managing director of the £400 million turnover Business and Industry Division at leading catering and support services provider Sodexho plc. Nigel had been with Sodexho since 1999, having previously held Board appointments with its predecessor Gardner Merchant from 1988 onwards. Nigel began his corporate career in personnel management, progressing through sales to divisional managing director appointments.

Contractor Focus Security Services has embarked on an ambitious development programme, part of which involves several senior managerial appointments. Former Wackenhut (UK) md Tony O'Reilly has been appointed managing director at Focus, with full responsibility for leading the management team on a day-to-day basis. Also joining the senior management team are Steve Brown (who assumes the role of area director in the south, covering contracts in London and the South East) and Birmingham-based Tony Blakeman. Tony takes on the role of area director in the north, and is also in charge of all Midlands-based contracts.

David Bradshaw has been appointed to the Board of Anchor Security Solutions as non-executive director. Previously with the OCS Group as strategic development director, David has been responsible for the sales and marketing of security and integrated services. More recently, he was the managing director of a City-based facilities management company operating in the retail and leisure sector.

The new contracts manager at Sheffield-based manned security company Advance Security is Mathew Chambers. Prior to joining the company – which operates in the Midlands and the north – Mathew fulfilled a management role at LMH Security. He has also worked within the construction industry in Germany following a four-year placement with Her Majesty's Armed Forces. Mathew holds a BA (Hons) degree in business and management, and an MSc in computer studies.

Video Controls Limited's (VCL) international marketing manager Nick Bowden has been appointed by parent group Honeywell Security as European marketing director for the company's CCTV video products. Having originally joined VCL from Ultrak, Nick now finds himself among some former colleagues (both companies having been bought by Honeywell). On top of an impressive track record in marketing, Nick brings technical expertise to his new role courtesy of a degree in industrial design and a Masters in mechanical engineering.

Senstar-Stellar Corporation – the leading supplier of outdoor perimeter intrusion detection security products and systems – has announced two executive appointments. Edwin Morton is the vice-president of sales. Edwin has held senior management roles in sales, marketing and business development with CrossKeys, Telexis, Kylain and, more recently, Edwards (Canada). Edwin began his career with British Telecom, and holds a BSc (Hons) in electronics from the University of Kent. In addition, Michael Rack has been appointed managing director of the company's operations in the UK, Senstar-Stellar Ltd. Michael also remains vice-president of marketing for the Senstar-Stellar Corporation.

Rear Admiral Scott Lidbetter QCVS QCVSA has been appointed chief operating officer for Europe, the Middle East and Africa by Ozonelink, the Homeland defence specialist headquartered in London that serves Governments and businesses alike. In addition to being the previous head of Royal Navy Aviation, the RAF Maritime Forces and leader of the NATO Maritime Air Forces, Scott has provided strategic guidance on a range of defence issues throughout his career.

The Miwa Lock Company has strengthened its sales team with the appointment of Steve King as the organisation's northern area sales manager. Steve will assume primary responsibility for promoting Miwa's AL5H dual technology smart lock to end users in the hotel and education sectors. Prior to joining Miwa, Steve was sales executive with NT Security, responsible for the sales and installation of a range of access control products, alarm systems and networked analogue and digital CCTV systems.

Delta Scientific – the specialist manufacturer of counter-terrorist vehicle control systems – has promoted Peter Lewellen to vice-president of its Product Support Division. Employed by Delta for the past six years, Lewellen previously worked for the US Department of State. Delta's product range includes vehicle barricade systems, parking control equipment and security guarding booths.

Viisage delivers advanced technology identity solutions for Governments, law enforcement agencies and businesses concerned with enhancing security, reducing identity theft, providing access control solutions and protecting personal privacy. As part of the company's ongoing development, Dr Mohamed Lazzouni – the vice-president of engineering since 2002 – has been named chief technology officer in addition to continuing his engineering leadership role. Dr Lazzouni holds a Masters degree in physics from the University of London and a PhD in the same subject from Oxford University.

Tim Geddes – currently chairman of the BSIA and director of Yeoman Monitoring Services – has been appointed chairman of the Security Industry Training Organisation (SITO) for the next two years. Richard Childs QPM joins the SITO Board as a non-executive director.
