The Security Industry Training Organisation (SITO) has appointed Bob Doyle as the first of its new regional training services managers. Bob boasts 30 years' experience in the security sector, encompassing both operational and business development expertise in manned security, Cash-in-Transit, access control and consultancy. He will now work with SITO's various clients in the same region to see how their training requirements can best be served.

John Haddon – director of Arup Security Consulting, the multi-disciplinary Arup design consultancy's specialist security division – has been appointed visiting professor at Cranfield University (and assigned to the Shrivenham Campus at the Royal Military College of Science). John will be helping with the identification of new research projects for Homeland security while encouraging the exchange of ideas and expertise between the academic and private sectors.

The Corps' area manager for London and the south east has recently completed an MSc in Security and Risk Management – obtaining a distinction for good measure. Being one of the first practitioners in the industry to attain this accolade, Ian Hall studied for the qualification over the course of two-and-a-half years, covering six modules on topics ranging from crime in the workplace through to new research methods for security management.

Kalamazoo Security Print – the Birmingham-based leading provider of security print solutions to UK end users – is investing in product development as a key part of its business strategy. The decision has been made alongside the key appointment of Trevor Pratt MBA to the newly-created role of market development director. Trevor brings a range of experience to the company from previous European sales, marketing and product development roles at American Express, Procter and Gamble and SC Johnson. He will now concentrate on the brand awareness marketing of core products to end users.

In order to meet a burgeoning demand for its services, Manchester-based computer forensics company CY4OR has announced the appointment of forensic analyst Matthew Trump. Matthew will be working with a range of clients – from law enforcement agencies through to solicitors and corporate concerns – in investigating suspected cases of fraud, computer hacking and industrial espionage.

The Indala Corporation has named Ann E Johnson as its next marketing manager. Reporting directly to company president Marc Freundlich, in addition to promoting the company's extensive product line of proximity cards, tags and readers, Ann will serve as Indala's major public relations contact. Formerly marketing communications manager at SS8 Networks, Ann possesses a wealth of high technology and telecoms start-up experience, as well as a background within global companies including MFS Communications, France Telecom and Alcatel USA.

The success of the Verilocation mobile phone tracking service launched last May by Overview Mapping has led to the formation of a new company – Verilocation Ltd. Verilocation is a web-based solution that uses cell information from the four major networks providers in the UK to track mobile phones in real time. Phone locations are then displayed on street level maps to distances of within 100 metres. The directors of the new company are Duncan Philp, Tony Newman, Susan Overton and Andrew Overton.

ISL Biometrics – one of the market leaders in the design and manufacture of biometric authentication and application access solutions – has announced the appointment of Russ Davis as chief executive officer. Most recently managing director at The Early Warning Center, Russ has worked globally in the IT security industry for nearly three decades (his experience encompassing the management of billions of Euros for technology research and development in the commercial, Government and academic environments). Davis joins newly-appointed chairman Steve Barnett, who joins from firewall vendor Check Point.

Leading provider of enterprise document and e-mail security solutions Sealed Media has appointed a new chief executive officer. George Everhart will oversee the company's next phase of growth, including a critical expansion into the US market. Alan Cornwell, the company's former chief executive officer, now becomes chief operating officer tasked with overseeing all international operations.

Shirley Pierini CPP is the new president of ASIS International. Currently vice-president of corporate security and safety for the Ameriquest Mortgage Corporation, Shirley brings more than 25 years of corporate security managerial experience to the post.

Access control and locking systems specialist Adams Rite (Europe) has promoted Simon Guy to the position of technical manager.
