Old job
Contracts surveyor for Brymor Contractors in Aldershot
How did you get there?
“I wanted to be a nurse in the armed forces – but boyfriends got in the way. I joined a local authority housing department but left until I fell back into it because I felt I needed a proper job.â€
What’s the job like?
“It can be a steep learning curve but I’ve worked on both sides of the contracts fence so I can see things from two points of view.â€
What do you enjoy most?
“Overcoming problems. It sounds like a cliché but I like learning new things. It stretches me and gives me confidence. I love the interaction with others, too. Having a laugh is a must.â€
Hobbies
“I go to the gym four or five times a week. It clears my head and gives me time away from the traumas of having a five-year-old who is too much like her mother! But I do like to eat good food, which is another reason for the gym.â€
Favourite film
“Leon – probably because I cried a huge amount at the end.â€
Favourite book
“The Hobbit by JRR Tolkien.â€
Housing situation
“I own a two-bedroom house where I live with my husband and daughter.â€
