Four long-established firms in the electrical and construction sector have come together as the Kinvara Group in a bid to challenge for work in the big league.

Early September saw the formation of a new force in the electrical and construction industry. The Kinvara Group has been formed by P J O鈥機onnor and named after his place of birth. It is an umbrella organisation that will control four of the portfolio of companies that are owned by O鈥機onnor.

The firms involved include electrical contractors AJ Sibthorpe and EJ Ross; theatre, stage lighting and sound systems specialist, CLIC; and Stone Epps, an interior fit-out and building contractor.

The four companies will move from their current bases to work out of a single new premises in Romford, Essex.

The move is seen by all as a statement of intent. Gerry McGill, senior contracts manager at AJ Sibthorpe, commented: 鈥淭he move will allow us to expand into new, larger markets. Clients like the insurance of dealing with a larger group nowadays. It gives them peace of mind with regards to a company鈥檚 ability to deliver projects on time and on budget.

鈥淐lients will now know we have the backing to operate on large contracts, so for us it is the only way forward if we want to be considered for the largest projects.鈥

The Kinvara Group is now looking to recruit qualified tradespeople from the local area for all four of its companies.
