A 3000-seat international equestrian centre is the focal point of the modernisation of Al Shaqab in Doha, Qatar. The competition facility will be capable of hosting Olympic-standard events. It features a 350 m long, 35 m high clam-shaped steel roof which will support the high intensity sports lighting. WSP is providing civil, structural and M&E design services and the architect is Hong Kong-based Leigh and Orange. The project is due for completion late 2006.
